During each module, we will review two Literacy Routines in Depth at a time. Literacy Routines in Depth Early Dismissal Trainings: During the Early Dismissal dates between October and February we will offer four modules for teachers to dig deeper into the Literacy Routines and their implementation.In these classes, students are given clear leveled. Literacy Routines as a Sheltered Instruction Model Institute Saturday Offerings: During November and December the institute will be offered on Saturdays and all PK-12 Bilingual, ESL & Content teachers of ELs are welcome to participate. Elementary Level - English Learners are grouped into sheltered English classes based upon grade level. Sheltered English Instruction: An instructional approach with the focus of making academic instruction in English comprehensible to ELs.Secondary Schools: 3 staff members – ESL & Content Lead Teachers.Elementary Schools: 2 staff members – DL Coordinator, Bilingual & ESL Lead Teachers.To effectively provide this professional development to all campuses, logistically, there is a limit to attendance as follows: Literacy Routines as a Sheltered Instruction Model Institute (2-Days): This training will be offered to all schools, elementary and secondary, during October with training locations by area.The professional development plan will cover three courses: ![]() ![]() These strategies are simple and flexible enough to be used daily to engage all students across content areas in reading, writing, listening, speaking, and thinking in every classroom. These are designed to be used as a Sheltered Instruction model across all disciplines in grades PK-12th.” Our district’s Sheltered Instruction Approach will be the eight Literacy Routines, which are based on John Seidlitz’s work.
